OUR CURATED RECOMMENDATIONS

Make the Most of Your Stay in Granada

Granada is one of Spain's most densely packed cities for things genuinely worth doing. The Alhambra is the most visited monument in the country and must be booked well in advance — tickets sell out weeks ahead during peak season. The Albaicín, Sacromonte, and the historic centre each deserve at least half a day on their own terms.

On arrival, guests receive a detailed digital guide to the city — restaurants, tapas bars, flamenco shows, walking routes, and day trips — put together from several years of hosting. The sections below give an overview of the main areas to focus on.

Alhambra Granada

UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE

Alhambra

The Alhambra is the most visited monument in Spain and needs to be booked well in advance — slots sell out weeks or months ahead. Built by the Nasrid dynasty in the 13th and 14th centuries on a hill above the city, the complex contains the Nasrid Palaces, the Generalife gardens, and the Renaissance Palace of Charles V. It is 10 minutes' walk from Terraza 6.

Granada's Neighborhoods

Granada’s historic neighbourhoods each have a distinct character. The Albaicín is the old Moorish quarter — a UNESCO-listed network of whitewashed lanes above the river Darro. Sacromonte is the traditional Roma quarter, known for cave flamenco. Realejo was the former Jewish quarter. The Barranco del Abogado ravine runs directly below the Alhambra walls.

Dining

Granada's Top Restaurants

Granada has a wide range of restaurants — from simple neighbourhood bars to serious dining. The area around Plaza Nueva and Calle Navas is the most convenient for visitors staying centrally, though the best places tend to be a short walk further from the main tourist streets. Our guide covers both ends of the spectrum.

Tapas

Best Tapas

Granada is one of the few cities in Spain where tapas are still free with every drink. Order a beer or glass of wine at a traditional bar and a plate of food arrives with it — the custom is embedded in the city's culture and the portions are often generous. Our guide covers the best tapas bars by neighbourhood.

Incredible Bars

The area around the Cathedral, the upper Albaicín, and the streets behind Plaza Nueva has a concentrated bar scene. Granada's social rhythm runs late — the real evening starts closer to midnight than to early evening, especially in summer. Our guide covers the bars worth seeking out in each neighbourhood.

Unforgettable City Walks

Granada's historic centre is compact enough to cover on foot. The walk from the Alhambra down through the Albaicín, along the river Darro, and into the Cathedral quarter takes around two hours at a relaxed pace and passes most of the city's main landmarks. Our guide includes three mapped walking routes.

Authentic Flamenco Shows

Sacromonte's cave venues — the zambras — are the most authentic setting for flamenco in Granada. The neighbourhood has been associated with the Roma community and flamenco for centuries, and the caves are carved directly into the hillside above the Albaicín. Shows typically start late and run for around an hour. Our guide covers the best venues and what to expect.

Rustic Paradise in the Heart of Andalusia

Alpujarras

The Alpujarras is a string of mountain villages on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada, between the high peaks and the coast. The villages — Pampaneira, Bubión, Capileira, Trevélez — are built in a distinctive flat-roofed Berber style and were inhabited by Moorish communities until the 17th century. Trevélez at 1,476 metres is Spain's highest village and is known for its cured mountain ham. The round trip from Granada takes around 3 hours.
