Your practical guide to parking near the Alhambra — from the official hilltop car park to free street options in Realejo, plus alternatives if you prefer to leave the car behind.
The parking situation near the Alhambra is manageable, but it pays to know your options before you set off. The official Parking Alhambra on the hill is convenient but expensive, and it fills quickly on summer mornings. Free street parking exists in the lower neighbourhoods — Realejo, Campo del Príncipe — but requires an early start.
For many visitors, the best strategy is to leave the car in a cheaper city-centre car park and take the C30 Alhambra minibus from Plaza Nueva. It runs frequently, costs a standard bus fare, and drops you directly at the entrance. If you are staying in Realejo — where Terraza 6 is located — you can simply walk the 900 metres and skip the parking question entirely.

The most popular way to reach the Alhambra without a car. Both lines depart from Plaza Nueva in the city centre, run every 7–10 minutes, and stop directly at the main entrance. The journey takes around 8 minutes. You pay the standard city bus fare (€1.40 single, or less with a bonobus card). The bus runs from early morning until late at night.
A taxi from the city centre or the train/bus station to the Alhambra entrance costs around €6–8 and takes less than 10 minutes. Taxis are available at Plaza Nueva, the Catedral area, and main hotels. On the return journey, there is usually a taxi rank near the Alhambra car park exit.
If you are staying in Realejo — the neighbourhood directly below the Alhambra — you can walk to the entrance in about 15 minutes. It is one of the nicer approaches to the complex and avoids all the car park congestion.

Alhambra tickets must be booked in advance — often weeks ahead in peak season. Sort the ticket first, then plan your transport. You cannot enter without a timed ticket regardless of where you park.
Street parking in Granada uses a colour-coded zone system: white lines = free, blue lines = paid hours (usually 9am–2pm and 4pm–8pm Mon–Fri). Parking outside these hours is free even in blue zones. Always check the signage to avoid a fine.
The Cuesta de los Chinos and Cuesta de Gomérez routes to the Alhambra car park can get very congested in July and August, especially between 9am and noon. Factor in extra time, or take the C30 bus to skip the traffic entirely.
