An idyllic location in Sierra Nevada far away from the noise and chaos of everyday life, O Sel Ling is a peaceful Buddhist monastery. The name given to this holy place by His Holiness the Dalai Lama means “Place of Clear Light”, which befits the tranquility and clarity of mind that drowns visitors here.

The history of O Sel Ling is full of interesting stories involving the Dalai Lama’s life. It was during one of his visits in 1982 that his holiness recognized one of the residing monks, Lama Yeshe as a high-ranking Tibetan Lama re-incarnated further cementing this monastery’s spiritual importance.

O Sel Ling nestles among pine woods and almond trees affording breathtaking views over Alpujarras and Mediterranean Sea and it invites you to explore Tibetan Buddhism teachings. There are different kinds of spiritual activities including guided meditations, teachings or retreats appropriate for both beginners and advanced practitioners.

Shakyamuni Buddha's beautiful statue is in the central shrine at the heart of O Sel Ling. Moreover, there are some symbolic structures on Monastery grounds like stupa, prayer wheel or Tibetan calendar circle each giving an insight into various aspects of Buddhist philosophy and practice.
